This is an onsite role with regular visits to job sites weekly.
Job PurposeLeads a team of highly skilled Protection Technicians in their performance of testing and commissioning of new and existing relay and control equipment on both the distribution and transmission systems.
Manages daily work assignments and ensures consistent application of standards and procedures.
Conducts performance reviews.
Provides mentoring and motivation to team members.
Works with Protection Engineering to resolve technical issuesWhat You'll Do Oversee the operational workload for a team of Protection Technicians, ensuring allocated staff are fully utilized to deliver against the agreed program of work Maintain compliance with relevant regulations by providing up to date information on National Grid policies, processes and programs to regulatory bodies Plan, schedule and coordinate the work involved in the protection of electrical assets and/or equipment Ensure all employees comply with safety standards, policies and processes to ensure a safe working environment and minimize risk for all staff Promote and implement procedural best practice within the team to ensure all working practices are compliant with company policies and regulatory requirements Manage an expense budget which includes labor, material, transportation, and other operating expenses Understand the work execution process and work coordination for a technician workforce involved in the construction, operation and maintenance of relay protection equipment.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required Excellent communication with a focus on active listening and presentation skills Experience with managing a team with the ability to build effective, respectful, working relationships Understands, trains, and implements compliance of all corporate policies, safety rules and procedures Coaches, mentors, and develops employees, assigning training, supporting change initiatives, and ensuring safety compliance About You Bachelor's degree in electronic or electrical engineering with 3 years of experience in relay protection and control systems, tele-protection, metering, Scada, or similar technical field, servicing customers and supervising employees, OR Associate's degree in electronic or electrical engineering with 5 years of experience in relay protection and control systems, tele-protection, metering, Scada, or similar technical field, servicing customers and supervising employees, OR Minimum of 7 years' experience in relay protection and control systems, tele-protection, metering, Scada, or similar technical field, servicing customers and supervising employees Valid driver's license with a clean record Your RewardsSalary:
$116,000 - $136,000This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
