This position is funded from the Commonwealth's annual operating budget.Duties:
Incumbents in this position will clean floors by sweeping, vacuuming and washing; clean interior surfaces such as walls, ceiling and windows. Clean lavatories, wash room, mop closets, empty waste receptacles and perform related work as required.
The basic purpose of this position is to perform cleaning and related domestic services to the interior of buildings; works on locked units doing general cleaning.
1. Works on locked units doing general cleaning.
2. Dry mops, mops and wet washes floors, cleans and/or polishes floors using buffing machine.
3. Strips or scrubs and refinishes floor when assigned.
4. Vacuums, spot cleans or shampoos carpets when assigned.
5. Cleans vertical and horizontal surfaces that collects dust.
6. Collects and transports refuse, cleans and relines refuse containers.
7. Cleans tops to windows, door frames and other high places; using ladder when necessary, cleans windows, doors
and lights.
8. Washes sinks and other plumbing fixtures and replaces disposables such as paper towels, toilet paper and liquid
soap.
9. Dusts, cleans and polishes furniture including beds.
10. Utilizes detergents, disinfectants, polishes, finished, etc.
11. Joins a labor pool in case of fire, disaster, or special projects.
12. Uses floor machines, automatic scrubbers, well washing equipment, waste collecting
equipment, etc.
13. Changes cubical curtains and drapes.
14. Moves furniture, beds, supplies, etc.
15. Cleans elevators including walls and floors.
16. Spot cleans walls and doors.
17. Requires some handling of infectious materials.
18. Other housekeeping and institutional cleaning as directed by FSW III.
19. Other duties as described in DPA approved position description.
20. Trains newly hired employees.
Qualifications:
Minimum Entrance Requirements:
Applicants must have at least six months of full-time, or equivalent part-time experience in building custodial or institutional housekeeping work.

Located on over 100 acres in Worcester, Massachusetts, Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) is part of an integrated network of effective, efficient and culturally competent mental health services. It provides intermediate and long-term inpatient care for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness who live in the Central and Western Massachusetts Areas, as well as individuals requiring specialized court ordered evaluations.
WRCH provides inpatient services to 260 inpatient adults; 30 inpatient adolescents and 30 residential adolescents, in either an Intensive Residential Treatment Program (IRTP) or a Behavioral Intensive Residential Treatment Program (BIRT).
As applicable, preference for this position will be given to those candidates who are eligible for Civil Service/ConTest Reinstatement/Reemployment or to those candidates who have passed the civil service examination for this job title, and who respond to the job certification that was recently issued for this location, and/or to employees laid off or bumped from this title who are eligible for recall, and in accordance with Article 14 or applicable Collective bargaining requirements.
These positions are full-time, 40 hours per week with schedules as follows:
There are nine (9) positions available. The shift is First Shift, 6:45 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. Days off are Sunday and Monday and Friday and Saturday
