Your duties can include but are not limited to the following:
Performs phlebotomy and follows current Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute guidelines; Ensures two patient identifiers and active communication are used with each blood draw and specimen collection; Acts as an information specialist by assisting providers and others in locating results; Operates instrumentation that performs blood cell testing with the newest methodologies which include impedance testing; Identifies abnormal cellular morphology that will provide the clinician with information related to disease processes and blood cell abnormalities to include leukemia's and lymphomas which requires independent expertise; Includes microscopy examinations, drug screen analysis fecal occult blood analysis and pregnancy tests; Performs tests in area include general chemistries and immune-chemistries such as glucose; Set of cultures staining of specimens, and isolation of bacteria; Identifies and performs inhibitory concentration analysis on the isolates that are considered pathogenic; Performs other related duties as assigned. DESIGNATED DRUG-TESTING POSITION:
Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test result is received. Work Schedule:

Experience:
Do you have one (1) year of specialized experience equipped with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the Medical Technician position? To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level in the Federal Service. Examples of specialized experience include:
Experience that may have been gained in (a) technical medical laboratory support work such as performing laboratory tests and examinations (chemical, microbiologic, hematologic and blood banking) and verify proper patient preparation, sample collections, and sample transport requirements for all laboratory blood test. Receives, processes and packs for shipment varied clinical blood specimens for reference laboratory testing. Maintains the laboratory equipment and controls supplies. preparing reports of findings or (b) technical support work in a closely related field, e.g., biological laboratory technician work, that required application of the methods and techniques for the position. Additional specialized experience includes:
providing hands on duties in all aspects of the clinical laboratory - chemistry, immunochemistry, blood bank microbiology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis and phlebotomy. complete and thorough knowledge of hospital programs, organizational structure, internal policies, regulation, guidelines and procedural steps, including safety. perform in a clinical setting and a personal orientation to organizational and independent type work. Provides evidence of a familiarity with hospital organization and guidelines/regulations. -OR- EDUCATION:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
