Physician (Neurologist)

Incumbent is expected to serve as Neurologist for Central Western MA Healthcare System under the Chief of Specialty Care. The physician will consult and treat Veterans in an outpatient setting and perform neurology services. S/he will be responsible for the oversight of all aspects of neurology medical care delivered to patients under their care. Incumbent will assess, consult, and treat patients (designing diagnostic and therapeutic plans) and will be responsible for the interpretation of tests (EMGs, EEGs, nerve conduction studies and evoked potential studies). Incumbent will be involved in management of pain and be participant in VA Pain Management Initiative. S/he will establish a professional working relationship with clinical service providers within the medical center and the Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCS). S/he will provide telephone and curbside consultation as needed and screen consults that are received for appropriateness prior to scheduling. Work Schedule:

United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. The neurologist must be physically and mentally capable of performing the duties of the position. This would include the following:
light lifting (under 15 pounds); light carrying (under 15 pounds); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers; walking 8 hours; standing 8 hours; repeated bending (1 hour); hearing (aid permitted).

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
