Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist

Duties include but are not limited to:
Finding suitable employment opportunities. monitor placements, and promote successful adjustment. Working with clients in the formulation of resumes, job interviews, and transportation. Knowledge of the types and availability of training and employment resources associated with local, State, and Federal agencies for Veterans with disabilities. Monitoring patient progress and providing feedback and assistance in the job seeking and maintenance process. Analyzing mental and physical disabilities or other handicaps, in terms of the practical effects of such handicaps on motivations, adjustment to training, and difficulty in employment placement. Determining the extent to which the client possess the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities necessary to meet the goals or objectives. Documenting patient interactions in patient system of records. Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note:

Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Supporting clients in all work related tasks. including but not limited to:
transportation. skills training. working with interdisciplinary team; Reporting program progress in accordance with established procedure; Counseling and guiding client through difficult transition or rough spots in the adjustment to the job; Utilizing job development techniques such as job carving, job development and rapid engagement OR, Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have Master's or equivalent graduate degree or, 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or, LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR, Combination:
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond; An applicant has 6 months of specialized experience equivalent to GS-7 and 1 year of graduate level education. Routine physical demands are minor; however, the complexities of the program and treatment required by the Veterans can create extremely stressful situations. Work Environment:
The work will occur both at and outside the Medical Center in the community (i.e. job sites, transitional housing, agencies, business, etc.). Incumbent will be at the Medical Center for meetings with the supervisor, providing direct services to Veterans, interacting with medical center staff, and when performing administrative functions. This position requires no exposure to blood borne pathogens, body fluids, and other potentially infectious materials. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
